Hello. I'm an industrial designer and design strategist with over 15 years of experience, specialising in consumer electronics and home appliances. Along the way, I've picked up a fairly eclectic mix of disciplines — which has come in rather handy.
One track mind, in the best possible way.
Since 2009, I've been quietly collecting design awards — 24 from the world's three major competitions (IDEA, iF, and Red Dot), plus another 10 or so from various international competitions. Gold, Silver, Bronze — the lot. I graduated from Hanyang University's Industrial Design programme with an Award for Outstanding Achievement, which I mention not to boast, but because my mum still brings it up at family dinners.
Broadly curious.
I started out at Samsung Design Membership and Pantech's Sky Designer's Community, then spent time at SWBK (now split into SWNA and BKID) and a handful of other studios — furniture, branding, beauty, lighting, mobile. A bit of everything, really. After that, I spent over a decade as a product designer at a major home appliance manufacturer. The company thought enough of my work to fund and support a postgraduate degree abroad, which I took as a compliment. In 2025, I completed a double Master's degree — MSc and MA — in Innovation Design Engineering at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art.
Beyond industrial design.
I hold three active design engineering patents in dishwashers and induction-ventilation systems — not the most glamorous dinner party topic, but genuinely useful. My Master's specialism in Innovation Design Engineering gave me a working understanding of engineering that's fairly rare among designers. These days, I've shifted into design strategy, trying to be the sort of generalist that's actually useful in an age of AI.
Sharing what I know.
I've mentored and tutored at Samsung Design Membership and SADI (2018, 2023, 2026), and have experience as an in-house design lecturer. More recently, I've been invited to give guest lectures at Korea University of Technology and Education and Kyungsung University — covering industrial design, design engineering, AI, and sustainable design.
One last thing.
I believe good design always carries a little wit — and a little warmth. As it happens, those are still the two things AI finds most difficult. I'd like to spend the rest of my career making objects that quietly prove the point.
